Nickelas Johnson’s flipbook Pyramidvid was commissioned as a part of the exhibition Charrette Roulette: Language at the Art Gallery of Alberta, edited by Kathy Slade and Kay Higgins.
Nickelas “Smokey” Johnson makes artworks and music that reflect his life in Western Canada. He draws from his love of street art, comics, history, exploration, carpentry and sci-fi, as well as his experiences growing up in a northern community. He uses these themes to create works that hope, through commentary and revelry, “to move towards a better, more thoughtful and inclusive society.”
