Carl Skoggard and Lisa Robertson: a night of translations

This reading celebrates Carl Skoggard's west coast tour with a new translation of Berlin Childhood Circa 1900 by Walter Benjaminpublished by Publication Studio.  What makes this edition particularly noteworthy is Carl's extensive commentary and afterword that generously sheds light on each chapter, drawing together key concepts from other Benjamin sources.  And to double the pleasure, Lisa Robertson will grace us with one last reading before she leaves the Bay Area.  Lisa, also published by Publication Studio (Occasional Work and Seven Walks from the Office for Soft Architecture), will read from her ongoing translation of Michele Bernstein's situationist novel, Tous les Chevaux du Roi.  Free and open to the public.

604 56th Street in North Oakland. Tuesday August 31, 2010. Doors at 7. Words at 7:30 (Please feel free to byob.  Some wine and food will be provided.)
