Please join us for dinner with Carl Skoggard, translator of Walter Benjamin's A BERLIN CHILDHOOD: CIRCA 1900 at Publication Studio's new downtown Portland storefront on Sunday, August 29, at 6:00 pm $48/seat includes full dinner, drinks, service, and a special launch edition copy of A BERLIN CHILDHOOD. Malati Rossington, of Caraqueña, will cook the full sit-down dinner for 20 at our first storefront dinner and book launch. Reserve soon (below); very limited seating. Carl Skoggard was the staff writer for Nest Magazine, where his unique voice helped define the magazine's frank and curious sensibility. A self-taught scholar, he enjoys reading German literature and for many years was an editor for the Repértoire International de la Littérature Musicale, with responsibility for German materials. His translation of Ein Jahr in Arkadien, an 1805 gay fiction by Duke August of Saxe-Gotha and Altenburg, appeared in 1999 as Year in Arcadia. He has been nominated for a nearly a dozen National Magazine Awards.
